Install on Windows
Run the NSIS installer, walk through the first-run wizard, and BrewPing lives in the system tray.
Windows
Before you start
- Windows 10 or later, 64-bit (x64).
- At least one CLI coding agent installed: Claude Code, Codex CLI, pi or OpenCode.
- Node.js is recommended — the app can install and switch Node versions for you if it is missing.
- Your phone on the same Wi-Fi network as this PC.
Install steps
1
Download the installer
Get BrewPing_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe (NSIS).
2
Run it
Double-click the installer. Its language selector offers Simplified Chinese and English; installing for all users or just you is both supported.
3
Complete the wizard
Follow the prompts and click through to Finish.
4
First launch
BrewPing opens a single 900 x 670 window with a custom title bar, and the Setup Wizard appears to walk you through environment checks and pairing.
Tray and window behaviour
- Closing the main window hides it to the system tray — it does not exit the app, and the service keeps running.
- The tray menu shows: status, device, IP, port, pairing code placeholder, a separator, Show Main Window, Show Pairing Code, Refresh Proxy List, a separator, and Quit.
- BrewPing is single-instance: launching it again just brings the existing window to the front and exits the new process.
- Auto-start at login is not implemented. Start BrewPing manually after a reboot, or add it to your own startup folder.
Where data is stored
All BrewPing data lives under your user profile, not %APPDATA%. Paths are JSON files:
| Path | Contents |
|---|---|
| %USERPROFILE%\.brewping\device.json | Device identity (device id looks like bp_win_ plus 8 hex characters) |
| %USERPROFILE%\.brewping\pairing.json | Pairing token — 32 random bytes as 64 hex chars, file mode 0600 |
| %USERPROFILE%\.brewping\model_providers.json | Provider configs, proxy switch, proxy port, failover switch |
| %USERPROFILE%\.brewping\workdirs.json | Per-agent working directory preferences |
| %USERPROFILE%\.brewping\approval.json | Global approval mode |
Ports used
| Port | Bind | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 8787 | LAN interface | HTTP API for phones on the same network |
| 15721 | 127.0.0.1 only | Local model proxy for CLI agents — never exposed to the network |
Uninstall
- 1Quit BrewPing from the tray menu.
- 2Uninstall it from Settings > Apps (or run the installer's uninstaller).
- 3Optionally delete %USERPROFILE%\.brewping to remove pairing tokens, provider configs and conversations.
