1

Get the APK

Download BrewPing-0.1.0-release.apk.

2

Allow the install

Android will ask permission to install from this source. Grant it for your browser or file manager, then install.

3

Launch

Open BrewPing. Grant the network and camera permissions it requests.

4

Use a real device

Discovery relies on NSD/mDNS. Android Emulator runs on a virtual network and cannot see real mDNS services — test on a physical phone.

PermissionPurpose
INTERNETTalk to the desktop app over HTTP
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEKnow whether a network is available
ACCESS_WIFI_STATERead Wi-Fi connection information
CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATERequired for NSD/mDNS discovery to receive multicast packets
CAMERAScan the pairing QR code

Network prerequisite

Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Many routers enable AP/client isolation, which silently blocks device discovery and direct HTTP between devices. If discovery finds nothing, add the computer manually by IP — see Troubleshooting.
